About
I originally started this blog to help me learn about social media. I figured the best way I could do that was to study the medium and write about what I learned.
Right away it was clear that it was going to really tough to break through. There are so many people in this space, almost all of them way more experienced than me. I’m not sure I had really found my voice, what was going to set me apart.
Most people argue that the most important thing to be yourself. Be conversational. To write from your heart about things that matter to you.
So what matters to me?
- My daughter
- My family
- Balance between home and work life
- An interesting and fulfilling career
- Doing things differently but still achieving success
So these are the types of things I’m going to write about. Social media will still factor in to it, but with perhaps a different spin.
Finally, I’ve discovered I kind of like writing. If I could write for a living I think it would make me really happy. So maybe in the end that’s my real goal. Let’s see what happens.

Anne! Your “folllow” link to your twitter account (upper right corner of your site) only goes to the twitter site, not to your account page, like it should — should link to
http://www.twitter.com/AnneWiltshire (or whatever your handle is) —
Obviously you can delete this when you see it, don’t mean to point to the TP stuck to your shoe in the comments, but you also have no CONTACT page or link, no other way to reach you… maybe by design, but… but… why?!
None of my beeswax, actually, and you blogroll/list/subscribe to (?) all these advanced SoMe sites so I’m sure you know what you’re doing, but if you wanna ask about anything (like why your Twitter feed widget doesn’t seem to be working), just give a shout. You’ll see from my link that I mean well — and you have my email if this isn’t making sense…
Time to get out out of the lurking shadows!

NO! Thank you, thank you for pointing this out. I need to know so that I’m doing this properly. Glad you mentioned it.
Interesting that you use different copy on different sites for your 2nd check box beneath the comments — are you split testing the results from “subscribe to this site by email” against “get site updates” (or whatever you have on your Twitter/profile pic poll page)?
Cause usually that wording is static across the site… hmmm… let us know what your results are, eh?
Curiouser and curiouser,

This comment made me laugh. To be quite honest, I’m not quite sure what I did when I set this up, but I’m probably supposed to. It is an interesting idea though, if I am able to test two calls to action it would mean some interesting learning. If I figure it out I’ll certainly let you know. What a great idea for a future post. Thanks!
